What is in a name…

Why Alchemy? Why Integrative? Why Mental Health?

When it came time to name my practice, I didn’t want to choose something trendy or clinical. I wanted something meaningful—something that captured the way I view healing, complexity, and what it means to be human. So I chose three terms that carry weight, intention, and deep belief:

Alchemy.

Integrative.

Mental Health.

Alchemy: A Symbol of Transformation

Alchemy is an ancient practice rooted in the pursuit of transformation—turning base metals into gold, yes, but also seeking spiritual insight and harmony along the way. While it often evokes images of mystics and arcane texts, for me, alchemy represents the profound and often mysterious process of change.

Healing isn’t linear. It isn’t always logical or explainable. While science and evidence-based practice are foundational to what I do, I also hold space for the unknown—the intuitive, the personal, the sacred. Western medicine offers powerful tools, but it doesn’t hold all the answers. Real transformation often lies in the spaces between disciplines, the spaces between words.

Alchemy honors that truth. It invites us to consider that healing can be as much about mystery and meaning as it is about biology and data. It’s about trusting the process and acknowledging that we are more than symptoms or diagnoses—we are whole beings capable of transformation.

Integrative: Healing is Multifaceted

The word integrative reflects my belief that effective mental health care is not one-size-fits-all. True healing honors the whole person - body, mind, spirit, and culture. It considers social and structural factors, personal history, trauma, and resilience. It’s collaborative and culturally aware. And it often calls on a variety of tools, from medication to mindfulness, from somatic practices to storytelling.

As a provider, I draw on the best of evidence-based medicine while remaining curious and open. I listen closely. I ask questions. I work to understand how your lived experience, community, and identity shape your wellness—and your wounds. I believe in weaving together multiple ways of knowing, including those from outside the dominant Western model of health.

Whether we're working with traditional psychiatric tools or exploring alternative approaches, integrative care means you don’t have to choose between science and soul.

Mental Health: Because You Deserve Peace

Lastly, I chose mental health because it is essential. Because the world is hard, and life can be brutal, beautiful, and everything in between. Because we live in a culture that often asks us to keep going when what we really need is to pause, to grieve, to reconnect, or to rest.

Mental health is not a luxury. It is a birthright. And yet, so many people have been made to feel ashamed or unworthy for seeking support. I believe every human being deserves the chance to know peace—in their minds, their nervous systems, their relationships, their bodies.

At Alchemy Integrative Mental Health, I meet you where you are—with compassion, curiosity, and care. This work is sacred to me. And I hold it with reverence.

Last - but not least

Why a Butterfly?

The butterfly is one of the most enduring symbols of transformation. It reminds us that growth is often messy, nonlinear, and hidden, just like healing. The process of metamorphosis requires stillness, surrender, and time in the dark before emerging into something new. At Alchemy Integrative Mental Health, the butterfly reflects the belief that change is always possible - even when it feels out of reach. Like alchemy, transformation isn’t just about becoming something different; it’s about uncovering the beauty and strength that were within you all along.
